To develop knowledge and educate creative individuals. We recognise the paramount importance of a close relationship between research and education. It is a prerequisite for attaining excellence in both of these two main branches of the School´s core activities. The notion of creativity refers to our ambition to convey to our students the academic ideal of critical innovative thinking and to provide the students with the intellectual tools necessary to challenge the existing perceptions of reality and the ability to formulate new solutions to problems they are confronted with.

For the advancement of successful organisations and a sustainable world. Research and education at the School have a purpose; to contribute to the advancement of society at large. We have to act on the problems facing the world today, whether it is environmental degradation, the energy supply, global poverty, the stress of an ageing population on the public budget or the vulnerability of political and financial systems. We have a responsibility, both collectively and individually, that should be taken into account in all of our activities and shall be conveyed to our students. This also reflects our ambition to develop interdisciplinary approaches in both research and education.

The mission of the School does not stop at the national or regional borders; it includes a globalist approach characterized by international exchange and cooperation and the development of an open, multifaceted and tolerant environment at our campus in Gothenburg.

The vision focuses on how the School wants to be perceived, globally and locally. While it might be possible to become well known through public relations activities alone, respect has to be earned and must build on our performances as an academic institution. The vision also spells out the basis on which the School wants to win respect; academic excellence and innovative development in research and education. Thus, fulfilling our mission is the only credible way to attain our vision.
