Workshop
In this workshop, we aim to take ideas about landscape and its socio-cultural layers, and peel some of them away to get at and explore how the conservation and protection of wildlife re-organizes cultural landscapes in Scandinavia. The contributions will have in common a concern with the different impacts and realities as rooted in, and construed by, time and space.
Potential themes may include:
- Different understandings of the protected wildlife¿s presence in the landscape and the underlying assumptions and values
- The experiential dimension of place and landscape
- How experiences of suppression and marginalization shape practices and interpretation
- Adaptations and adaptive capacity of practitioners and local communities
- Creation of meaning in situations where different interests cut across
- How different perspectives and sets of values regarding the landscape and local traditions contribute to shaping local responses to political decisions
- The everyday, "in-situ" conditions of human life as it unfolds in local communities, in organizations and in collaborative measures
